Wow, Ike as only a category 2 hurricane really made an impact from Texas to Ohio.  2 Million+ people are without power (including me in NE Ohio!).  In Ohio we have been told that we will not get power until probably Friday, so what should you do?

Use candles instead of flash lights (unless you have a lot of batteries) for continous light.  Use the flash lights for emergencies or limited use as you never know when you will really need them in the next few days. 

Check your elderly neighbors, some of them might get food delivered once a week or so, and might not have anything to eat, since they will not be able to cook unless they have a gas stove. 

Do NOT open your refrigerator (unless throwing out all the food) as the freezer in most units can keep its own for a good amount of time.  Before you decide to eat it, take the temperature, for most items, only eat them if the temperture is under 40 degrees (F).
